💨 Abstract

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck northern Chile, causing minor infrastructure damage and power outages for over 20,000 people. The quake hit at a depth of 76 kilometers near the Atacama Desert coast. No casualties were reported, and authorities ruled out a tsunami threat. Some landslides occurred, and power disruptions were expected to be resolved quickly. Chilean President Gabriel Boric confirmed no reported casualties and that his government was coordinating with local authorities.
