💨 Abstract

In a closed-door meeting in Beijing, Gyaltsen Norbu, Beijing's chosen second-highest figure in Tibetan Buddhism, pledged loyalty to the Communist Party. Norbu, the Chinese-appointed Panchen Lama, met with Xi Jinping and vowed to support Party leadership and promote the "sinicization of religion" in Tibet. This move is part of China's larger efforts to control religious practices and ensure political stability.
