💨 Abstract
A German court sentenced a Syrian doctor, Alaa M., to life imprisonment for torture and war crimes committed in Syria between 2011 and 2012. The Frankfurt Higher Regional Court found him guilty of killing two people and torturing nine, with sadistic tendencies. The court's decision virtually rules out early release. Alaa M., who had been living and working in Germany, was identified by victims from a TV documentary. He denied the charges, claiming a conspiracy.
