💨 Abstract

Peru's government has reversed its decision to reduce the protected area around the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, after facing backlash. The initial plan to shrink the zone by 42% to allow miners was rescinded, and the original boundaries will remain. A technical panel, including academics and civil society, will be formed to update the site's management plan. Environmental concerns persist due to illegal mining activities in the area.
