💨 Abstract
Costa Rica's Supreme Court has asked the legislature to remove President Rodrigo Chaves' legal immunity to face trial on corruption charges. Chaves is accused of awarding a $32,000 contract to his advisor. The court also asked his former chief of staff, Jorge Rodríguez to share in the trial. Interestingly, this is the first time Costa Rica's top court has approved a request to revoke a president's immunity. Additionally, Chaves faces separate charges of illegal campaign financing.
