💨 Abstract

France reached an agreement with New Caledonia to grant more autonomy without granting full independence. The deal proposes a 'Caledonian' nationality and 'state of Caledonia' within France. After 10 days of negotiations, New Caledonians will vote on the accord, which aims to prevent future violence and foster unity between the differing factions, those who want to remain with France and those in favour of independence. The deal adresses regaining control over international affairs, security, and justice.
