A Moldovan oligarch, Vladimir Plahotniuc, accused of a $1 billion bank fraud, was detained in Greece. He fled Moldova in 2019 facing multiple corruption charges and was sanctioned by the U.S. and U.K. in 2022. Moldovan authorities are seeking his extradition.
