💨 Abstract
A German court acquitted satirist Sebastian Hotz, who was charged with approving an assassination attempt against Donald Trump through a social media post. Hotz's posts, made under the alias “El Hotzo” on X, were deemed satirical and not a direct threat to public peace. The prosecution argued that his posts, which drew parallels between Trump and a violent incident, constituted a hate crime due to his large following.
