💨 Abstract
A Lebanese military court convicted six individuals in the 2022 killing of an Irish U.N. peacekeeper, Pvt. Seán Rooney. The main defendant, Mohammad Ayyad, was sentenced to death in absentia, and three others received fines, while two received short jail sentences. A sixth defendant was acquitted. The shooting was deemed a targeted attack, with some defendants alleging they were unaware the victims were peacekeepers.
