💨 Abstract

Syria will hold parliamentary elections from September 15 to 20, as announced by Mohammed Taha al-Ahmad, chairman of the Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections. These will be the first elections since the fall of former President Bashar Assad in December. The announcement follows recent sectarian violence in the southern province of Sweida, which has divided public opinion and threatened the country's fragile postwar transition.
