💨 Abstract

In 2025, thousands of Haitian pilgrims were unable to visit the sacred waterfall in Saut-d’Eau due to gang control. Instead, they gathered in Port-au-Prince to honor the Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel and the Vodou goddess Erzulie. Violence has displaced over 1.3 million people in Haiti, with thousands killed or displaced by gangs. authorities deported over 100 Haitians that day, amidst an immigration crackdown.
