💨 Abstract
The International Court of Justice issued a landmark opinion on climate change, declaring that every individual has a right to a habitable planet. The court stated that countries must protect the climate and environment from greenhouse gas emissions, with legal consequences for those that do not. This ruling could lead to legal actions, including compensation for climate damage. Countries are also obliged to protect climate refugees, and a nation does not cease to exist if it disappears under rising sea levels.
