💨 Abstract
The U.S. State Department, under the Trump administration, recalled its top diplomat in Colombia, John McNamara, following controversial statements from Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro. Petro, who has been facing internal challenges, accused some former officials, with alleged U.S. support, of planning his removal. In response, Petro recalled Colombia's ambassador to Washington. Neither side has fully elaborated on the measures being pursued.
