💨 Abstract
In northwestern Nigeria on August 18, 2025, at least 40 people went missing after a boat carrying market-goers capsized in the Goronyo area of Sokoto state. Out of the 50 passengers on board, only 10 have been rescued. The incident marks another in a series of fatal boat accidents in Nigeria, frequently caused by overloading and poor maintenance, especially during the rainy season.
