💨 Abstract
Torrential rain in Kyushu, Japan, caused severe floods and mudslides, leading to injuries and missing persons during the Buddhist "bon" holiday week. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued the highest-level warning, affecting Kumamoto and six other prefectures. Evacuation advisories were given to tens of thousands, while rescue efforts were underway for missing individuals. Train services were suspended, and about 6,000 households in Kumamoto lost power.
