💨 Abstract
British authorities have begun a pilot program to send migrants, who crossed the English Channel in small boats, back to France. The first group was detained and will be returned, aiming to deter future attempts. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper warned migrants of the risks and futility of paying smugglers. The program, announced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron is a response to border control criticism.
