💨 Abstract

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a hurricane watch for southern Mexico due to a rapidly intensifying tropical depression in the Pacific. The system, forecasted to become Tropical Storm Erick, is expected to bring flooding to parts of Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala, with up to 12 inches of rain in Oaxaca and Guerrero. The depression, currently 495 miles southeast of Punta Maldonado, Mexico, is moving west-northwest at 12 mph.
