💨 Abstract
Edwin Bergsson survived an overdose five years ago but suffered a brain injury. He now works at a café for brain injury survivors. Daniel Vigo, B.C.'s chief scientific adviser, warns that many overdose survivors face brain injury and mental illness, often overlooked by harm-reduction policies. Over 18,000 people have died from toxic drugs in B.C. since 2016, with survivors estimated to be five to ten times higher.
