💨 Abstract
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned Red No. 3, a synthetic red dye used in thousands of food and drink products, due to its link to cancer in laboratory rats. The additive is found in items like candies, cakes, and beverages. The FDA noted that the cancer-causing effect in rats does not occur in humans, and human exposure levels are lower.
