💨 Abstract
A study reveals certain accents are stereotyped as more likely to commit crimes, with Liverpool and Bradford accents perceived as most guilty. London and Liverpool accents were rated most likely to commit a sexual offense. The standard Southern accent was perceived as more likely to commit a sexual assault than other offenses. Researchers found a correlation between working-class accents and perceived likelihood of crime.
