💨 Abstract
The UK Government will test its Emergency Alert System (EAS) later this year, designed to warn the public of life-threatening emergencies such as flooding and wildfires. Millions of phones will emit a loud alarm and vibrate, receiving a message on 4G and 5G devices. Users will need to acknowledge the alert before continuing. People can opt out if necessary. The test is part of steps taken in response to the Covid inquiry.
