đ¨ Abstract
Two police officers were tried for assaulting a 92-year-old, single-leg amputee, Donald Burgess, in a care home. Burgess had threatened staff with a knife. Within 83 seconds, the officers, PC Stephen Smith and PC Rachel Comotto, used pepper spray, a Taser, and a baton. They were found not guilty by a jury. Burgess died shortly after the incident due to COVID-19.
