💨 Abstract
If the UK doesn't build more reservoirs soon, it may face severe water shortages and rationing similar to Mediterranean countries by the 2030s. The government is fast-tracking the construction of several reservoirs in England by 2050, aiming to combat increased water usage and climate-driven droughts. Water Minister Emma Hardy warned that without these measures, the UK could run out of drinking water by 2040.
