💨 Abstract
Labour Together has proposed a universal digital identity scheme for the UK, called the 'BritCard.' This mandatory electronic credential would be stored on a smartphone app (GOV.UK Wallet) and used for verifying identity for jobs, housing, and other services. The proposal, supported by 80% of Britons in a poll, aims to streamline verification processes, reduce fraud, and address issues like visa overstays.
