💨 Abstract
The author, adopted as a baby in Uganda, recounts her journey of discovering her adoption at age eight and the challenges she faced due to her mixed-race heritage and health conditions. She experienced taunts and prejudices but found love and support within her adoptive family. After fleeing to the UK as refugees, she revealed her adoption to her mother at 16.
