šØ Abstract
In 2014, a meal at a college cafeteria led the author to come out as gay to their devout Muslim parents, who had emigrated from Pakistan and India to Canada. Growing up, the author faced rigid expectations and felt terrified about their sexuality due to lack of queer representation. After realizing the world didn't end after eating non-halal food, they decided to embrace their true identity.
