💨 Abstract
The author received an email from the NHS Blood and Transplant team, informing them that they were a potential match for a bone marrow or blood stem cell donor. Seventeen years earlier, the author had registered as a donor and finally got the opportunity to help someone. The NHS encourages more donors, especially for underrepresented ethnic groups. The donation process was smooth and felt like a mini-break in London. The author advocates for more people to sign up, as it could save lives.
