💨 Abstract
The UK government will abolish the 200-year-old Vagrancy Act 1824 by Spring 2026, decriminalizing rough sleeping. This law, which has caused a 164% increase in rough sleepers since 2010, will be replaced by support and dignity for vulnerable people. Prime Minister Angela Rayner described it as 'drawing a line under nearly two centuries of injustice.'
