💨 Abstract
Flash flooding hit the UK after severe thunderstorms overnight, with over 30,000 lightning strikes recorded. The storms led to travel disruptions, blackouts, and homes being flooded, following the hottest day of the year. The storms, which hit the south and east of England, are moving northwest. Yellow weather warnings are in place for parts of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
