💨 Abstract
A British woman, Yvonne Ford, died from rabies after being scratched by a puppy in Morocco. Rabies is a severe and almost always fatal infection typically contracted from animal bites or scratches. It is prevalent in many countries but not in the UK. Symptoms can appear three to twelve weeks after exposure, and the disease is almost always fatal once symptoms develop. The World Health Organization reports 59,000 annual deaths from rabies, primarily in Africa and Asia.
