💨 Abstract

A suicide bomber attacked a Greek Orthodox church in Damascus, Syria, during Sunday mass, killing at least 22 worshippers and injuring 63. The gunman, linked to Islamic State, shouted derogatory remarks before opening fire and detonating an explosive vest. The attack, the deadliest in Syria in recent years, has raised concerns about extremist sleeper cells. Damascus officials condemned the assault as an attempt to destabilize the country.
