šØ Abstract
The UK is planning a significant upgrade to rail connectivity. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander announced that ultra-fast fiber optic cables will be deployed across key railway lines, improving mobile connectivity and reducing signal dropouts. This upgrade aims to enhance both work productivity and leisure experiences for passengers. The rollout is expected to begin next year and be completed by 2028. Additionally, there are plans to introduce low-earth-orbit satellite connectivity for better WiFi on trains.
