💨 Abstract

An abandoned British warship, the HMS Cassandra, sunk in the Baltic Sea after World War I. It is at risk of leaking up to 780 tons of oil, posing a significant threat to marine ecosystems and coastal communities. A British mission, part of Project Tangaroa, is investigating the wreck to prevent potential environmental devastation. The ship, lying 95 meters deep, also contains hazardous mercury, adding to the environmental risk.
