💨 Abstract
The author was surprised to learn that only 1 in 10 people in the UK have no savings, as they have never had savings themselves and assumed it was normal. Growing up in a low-income household, the author never saw savings as an option. Despite having a cautious nature with money as a child, responsibilities and living paycheck to paycheck made saving difficult. Even after becoming a single mother, saving seemed like an unattainable dream.
