💨 Abstract
Howard Phillips, a 65-year-old from Harlow, Essex, is on trial for allegedly trying to assist Russian intelligence. Phillips, who had applied for a Border Force job, met with undercover British agents posing as Russian operatives. He expressed a desire for financial independence and a break from the "nine-to-five" routine. Phillips claimed to possess personal information about then-UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps and offered to aid in travel logistics and cover for agents.
