💨 Abstract
Nicholas Prosper, 19, narrowly avoided a whole-life sentence after judges agreed that his 49-year term was appropriate. Prosper planned to murder 34 people at his former school but was thwarted when his mother discovered his plan. He killed his mother, sister, and brother before being arrested.
