The Nigerian gang, Black Axe, is recruiting British teenagers and professionals with debts, enticing them with the promise of fast cash. Members undergo brutal initiation ceremonies, including drinking blood. These recruits, often male, are frequently exploited to facilitate transnational fraud. They are often IT professionals manipulating social media platforms, especially Snapchat, to cover their illegal activities. Black Axe operates globally, with over 30,000 members and annual illicit earnings of £3.8 billion.
