💨 Abstract
A vascular surgeon, Neil Hopper, has been charged with fraud and encouraging others to perform illegal amputations. Hopper, who has conducted numerous amputations, is accused of falsely claiming his own leg injuries were due to sepsis to receive insurance payouts. He is also charged with purchasing videos from a website that encourages the removal of limbs, which allegedly inspired Marius Gustavson to perform illegal castrations. Hopper has been suspended from his medical practice since December 2023.
