💨 Abstract

Blue whales, known for their haunting songs used for communication and navigation, are singing less due to starvation. A six-year study in Monterey Bay found their vocalizations reduced by 40 percent. Ocean heatwaves caused toxic algae blooms, depleting their primary food sources—krill and anchovies. Rising sea temperatures, linked to climate change and increased greenhouse gases, endanger marine life and ecosystems.
