💨 Abstract
Millions of smart meters in Great Britain are currently not functioning properly, operating in ‘dumb’ mode without sending energy usage data. The government is launching a consultation to improve meter operation rates and create a Consumer Charter. Ofgem will implement new rules requiring energy companies to fix broken devices quickly, with compensation for customers experiencing delays.
