💨 Abstract
Labour councillor Ricky Jones made inflammatory remarks at an anti-racism protest in Walthamstow, urging far-right protesters' throats to be cut. He was advised by his party to avoid the protest but attended anyway. Jones claimed he was reacting impulsively due to distress at far-right activity. He faces trial for encouraging violent disorder and has been suspended by the Labour Party. The case arose amid tensions following the Southport riots triggered by the murder of three girls.
