💨 Abstract

The Diomede Islands, situated in the Bering Strait, are uniquely close yet separated by an international boundary and time zone. Big Diomede is in Russia, while Little Diomede is in Alaska. Despite their proximity, travel between them is illegal, and the islands represent a divergence in culture and time. The meeting between President Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska highlights historical tensions, particularly concerning territorial adjustments, like Russia's potential arguments about Ukraine drawing parallels to the historical sale of Alaska.
