💨 Abstract
Chikungunya cases in the UK have more than doubled in the first half of the year, with 73 reported cases compared to 27 in the same period last year. Most infections were in travelers returning from countries like Sri Lanka, India, and Mauritius. The UKHSA also reported the first cases of the oropouche virus in the UK. Chikungunya is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, which thrive in warm, wet climates.
