A-level results day saw a record high in top grades (A and A*) at 28.3%, up from previous years excluding pandemic years. The overall pass rate rose to 97.5%, with 255,130 18-year-olds accepted onto degree courses. However, the achievement gap between London and the northeast widened. Maths, psychology, and biology were the top subjects.
