💨 Abstract

Two RAF jets intercepted a private plane over London, causing a sonic boom. The Typhoon jets from RAF Coningsby were scrambled after the plane, a Bombardier Global Express flying from Nice, lost contact with air traffic control. The jets escorted the plane to London Stansted Airport, where contact was re-established, and no incident occurred. Residents in London, Kent, and Essex reported hearing and feeling the sonic boom, which was described as an explosion.
