💨 Abstract
DJ Carey, a former Kilkenny hurling star, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for fraudulently claiming to have cancer to extort nearly €400,000 from friends and family. He faked medical records, used a phone charger as a fake medical tube, and lied about a €1 million HSE payout.
