💨 Abstract
The UK's sugar tax, introduced in 2016, will now include milkshakes and other sugary milk-based drinks. The tax, which has reduced sugar content in soft drinks by 46% over five years, will also lower its sugar threshold from 5g to 4.5g per 100ml. The tax aims to combat obesity and raise government revenue, having collected £1.9 billion since 2018.
