💨 Abstract
A 59-year-old homeless man, Peter Augustine, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 23 years for the murder of 87-year-old John Mackey. Augustine attacked Mackey, a beloved pensioner, after he left a Co-op store and takeaway shop in London, stealing his shopping. Mackey died from his injuries two days later. Augustine showed no remorse and was described as targeting Mackey due to his frailty.
