💨 Abstract
A woman, Trudi Burgess, was left paralyzed after her abusive partner, Robert Easom, severely injured her spinal cord. Easom was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm. Burgess had tried to leave Easom multiple times but felt trapped in a cycle of abuse. She described his behavior as unpredictable and frightening. The incident occurred after Burgess told Easom she was leaving him. Her children have started a fundraiser to make their home accessible and provide ongoing care.
