💨 Abstract

For the past decade, Scottish Power has been pursuing Mahala Simmons for a debt incurred by her house's previous owners. Despite Simmons' repeated assurances that the debt isn't hers, the company and its debt collectors have continued to demand payment, causing significant stress and impacting her autistic son's well-being. Scottish Power has acknowledged the error and is investigating, but Simmons remains frustrated and overwhelmed. The company has paused debt collection while resolving the issue.
